Crawley Labour launches 2023 manifesto for Crawley Borough Council Elections
This week, Crawley Borough Council has released its manifesto to voters in the run up to polling day for the 2023 Borough Council elections.
The 31 page document sets out a comprehensive plan for the year ahead, with notable pledges including:
- making meetings of the council more accessible to residents by introducing webcasting to broadcast live online, with recordings available to watch at any time;
- working to provide a refreshed and improved town centre market, with an increased number and variety of stalls;
- building more council houses and increase the council’s temporary housing stock further to protect people in financial pressure or being evicted, from homelessness;
- greater protection for renters with an increase in the private rented accommodation housing team to protect standards and stop illegal evictions;
- continuing to deliver on a climate change and net zero strategy to protect the environment;
- promoting culture, leisure and recreation and putting together a cultural strategy for the Borough;
- Bringing forward a masterplan for the future of Goffs Park, and
- Increasing dialogue on crime and anti-social behaviour with residents, councillors and the Police, by introducing more frequent community meetings to recognise local concerns on these issues.

Labour Leader of Crawley Borough Council Michael Jones (Lab, Bewbush) in releasing the manifesto, said:
“This is an ambitious but deliverable manifesto that is set to build on the long list of achievements by this Labour council this year – and it is a stark contrast to Tory-run West Sussex County Council whose performance can best be seen by the horrendous state of the roads across town.
“All your Labour candidates and councillors are local residents who understand the challenges of our Borough. We live alongside you and love the diversity and energy at the beating heart of Crawley. We will listen to your views and stand by our promises.
“We will continue to put residents first in everything we do in these challenging times.”
