While the school holidays are still on and the weather remains fine, why not visit some of our amazing parks across the Borough?

All five Crawley parks have retained their Green Flag Awards for excellence. Tilgate Park has received the award for the 22nd consecutive year and Goffs Park and the Memorial Gardens have now had it awarded 16 times.

Worth Park has also again received a Green Heritage Site Accreditation, supported by Historic England, for the management of its historic features. Ifield Mill Pond is considered the most important wetland site in the town.

There are a huge range of facilities for those that are active – skatepark, tennis courts, green gyms, children’s play areas including sites with accessible play equipment, sporting spaces for golf, footgolf, croquet, petanque, climbing frames, zip wires, kayaks and, of course, the Nature Centre, Go Ape and Monster Jump at Tilgate Park.

There are also plenty of places to simply sit and peacefully enjoy the scenery and landscapes.

There are some little gems tucked away, like Broadfield Park, Bewbush Water Gardens or the Anniversary Gardens at West Green Park to name but a few and all worth a visit, maintained to high standards, by our dedicated parks teams.

There have also been a range of events at our parks, including a funfair at Southgate Park, and  Music in the Memorial Gardens.  The Friends of Goffs Park held a magnificent Picnic earlier this month to celebrate the park’s platinum anniversary with a plethora of stalls and local dance and music.

Elsewhere in the Memorial Gardens, courtesy of the Town Centre Business Improvement District, the Crawley Fusion Mela brought many diverse parts of the community together at another well attended event.

And Crawley Pride last weekend brought back, for the fourth time, a fabulous day at Goffs Park mixed with amazing local artists, businesses, and people.

I recognise there is sometimes a battle with litter at certain times and while the team works hard to keep things tidy, I’d encourage all park visitors to be considerate and to help them by disposing their rubbish responsibly.
