Crawley Labour Party has announced its candidates for the Three Bridges councillors following the sudden announcement by veteran ward councillor Brenda Burgess that she was calling it a day.
Three Bridges residents will have two votes for the Borough Council on May 7th this year, as well as a vote for their county councillor.
At an official launch of the Three Bridges campaign at Gales Drive parade, it was announced that Mandie Hains will be the candidate for the vacancy, who will be the running mate to already selected Labour Borough and County Council candidate and Three Bridges resident Marilyn Hilton.
Mandie is a long standing resident, born and raised in Three Bridges and is well known to many residents, with a strong track record of volunteering with the community over the years, including the League of Friends of Crawley Hospital and St Catherine’s Hospice.
Mandie’s mother was tireless fundraiser and supporter of Crawley Hospital, the late Maria Hains.
Welcoming Ms Hains to the contest, deputy leader of Crawley Borough Council and Three Bridges ward councillor Atif Nawaz said:
“Three Bridges is going to be one of the most competitive neighbourhoods in this election and we are delighted to have such a strong candidate in Mandie. She will be a fantastic councillor for the neighbourhood if residents can give her their support. Together with Marilyn, we would be a strong and dedicated team, united in addressing the challenges we have in Three Bridges.”
Mandie Hains added:
“Working in the Care Industry and voluntary work has given me the experience needed for the compassion, strength and knowledge required in being a councillor. I would like to focus on supporting the community and local businesses needs in the Three Bridges/ Crawley area. Serving the Three Bridges community would be my privilege. If elected I will work for everyone in the neighbourhood, irrespective of how they voted.”
