Crawley Labour Borough councillors joined candidates, party members and activists at the weekend in Dorsten Square, Bewbush for the launch of the party’s 2026 local elections campaign, followed by a borough wide door knocking session involving dozens of volunteers.

The campaign launch saw the party’s fully costed programme being unveiled for the following two years of the council, which includes:

  • Over 540 new council homes to be built for Crawley people’s needs, the majority on brownfield land.
  • Major Town Centre regeneration combined with a programme of engaging events to encourage shoppers and visitors.
  • Stepping up the fight against fly-tipping and littering across the Borough with the council’s new Environmental Protection Team.
  • Continued investment in sport and recreation in Crawley, including football, cricket, padel tennis – and athletics at K2 Crawley.
  • Maintaining the Borough’s high standards of grass cutting and hedge trimming across Crawley
  • Further major investment in Goffs Park, as well as at Tilgate Park, the walled garden and Tilgate Zoo.
  • Continue the fight against Homes England’s plans for inappropriate housing developments at West of Ifield.
  • A new mainline station area to be proud of at Three Bridges station, vastly improving the commuter and passenger experience alike.
  • Protect the New Town’s precious community assets paid for by local people over decades and ensuring Crawley retains a single, distinctive council voice.

Speaking after the launch, Labour Leader of the council, Councillor Michael Jones said:

“It’s a pleasure to launch our campaign for this year’s local council elections. This is a high performing council here in Crawley with a record of delivering for all of our residents – and being on their side first and foremost.  As can be seen from the pledges we have made, a vote for us will help unlock many more improvements across the Borough.

“We have a great set of candidates, deeply rooted in their communities, with a wide range of talents.  We will put our case to residents and hope to convince them that Crawley Labour’s plans for the Town are indisputably the best on offer.  We’ve worked consistently for everyone in Crawley and will work tirelessly in this election to keep that democratic mandate from local people.”
